Article 75: A Psychological Interpretation of Sitting Posture and a Test of Premonition
10. The Secret of Sitting Posture
A person's posture reflects not only their habitual personality traits but also their inner feelings at that moment. By analyzing their sitting posture, we can uncover a person's inner secrets.
Sitting upright: A person who often sits upright with their eyes fixed straight ahead is a perfectionist who likes to be meticulous and practical. Such a person only does things they are confident about and never takes risks. Although they are pragmatic, they often lack innovation and flexibility.
Sitting deeply: Sitting deeply in a chair with your back straight is a way of showing the other person that you have the upper hand.
Sitting sideways: People who sit sideways in a chair are indicating that they feel comfortable and don't feel the need to leave a better impression on others. They are often emotionally expressive and unconcerned with details.
Squatting: People who hunch their bodies down and tuck their hands between their thighs are often people with a strong sense of inferiority. They are humble but lack self-confidence and are mostly of the submissive type in terms of personality.
Sitting with legs and arms outstretched: People who sit with their arms and legs spread out, occupying the largest possible space, may have a tendency to be in charge, possess a natural talent for leadership or a dominant personality, or they may be extroverted, arrogant, and careless about details. For women, this sitting posture may also indicate a lack of sexual experience.
Cross-legged sitting: This posture, in which one leg is crossed over another, is used to reinforce a defensive posture. Shy, fidgety, timid, and insecure women commonly use this posture.
Crossed ankles: This is a negative bodily signal. When men display this posture, they often also place their clenched fists on their knees or grip the armrests of the chair tightly with both hands. Most women, however, adopt a slightly different posture, keeping their legs together, feet apart, and hands naturally placed on their knees or one hand resting on the other. Research suggests this is a bodily posture used to control negative thoughts, emotions, tension, and fear, indicating alertness or defensiveness.
The "4-shaped" leg-clamping posture: In debates, people with a stubborn attitude often use one or both hands to hold one leg, forming a "4" shape. This posture suggests an inflexible mindset or a competitive attitude. It is a common sitting posture for many men with competitive personalities.
Ascending a chair: Some people like to sit upside down in their chairs, with the back facing forward and legs spread apart, as if straddling the chair. This is a defensive behavior people exhibit when faced with verbal threats, bored with someone else's speech, or want to suppress others' dominance in the conversation and assert their own. During a conversation, when an extroverted person is at a disadvantage, they may unconsciously straddle the chair to gain dominance and put others at a disadvantage. People with this habit often want to be the center of attention and act like a king.
In addition, the subconscious movements of the legs or feet while sitting can also indicate a person's mood or certain personality traits at that time.
For example, gently shaking one's feet, fidgeting with one's legs, or tapping the floor with one's toes while sitting indicates anxiety, unease, impatience, or an attempt to relieve tension.
Shaking one's foot while sitting with it resting on the other leg indicates a relaxed mood. If one goes further and shakes their foot while picking at their slippers or heels with their toes, it carries a stronger connotation of indulgence, such as teasing or seduction.
The act of suddenly sitting down in front of others may seem casual, impolite, or unrefined, but in reality, it reveals an underlying unease or a secret that the person is unwilling to share. They unconsciously use this action to mask their suppressed emotions.
11. Test your intuition.
Premonition, or the ability to sense things in advance, is what we commonly call intuition or a sixth sense. Psychologists refer to it as extrasensory perception. People with premonitions often detect fires early or avoid car accidents due to inspiration or a sudden impulse. This ability is innate, but in the process of socialization, most people either neglect it or lose it entirely.
Do you want to know how much premonition you have? The following quiz might give you a satisfactory answer.
Tools needed: paper and pencil.
First, pick up a pencil with your left hand and draw a vortex on the paper, starting from right and immediately moving clockwise (see Figure 1); then switch to your right hand and try drawing it. Next, draw two mountains and two rivers with your left hand (see Figure 2); then switch back to your right hand and draw two more. If you are left-handed, draw with your right hand first, and then switch back to your left hand.
Compare the two drawings made with the left and right hands:
If the two drawings made with both hands are the same, then it is type A;
If the figures drawn with both hands are the same, but the figure drawn with the right hand is better, then it is type B;
If the figures drawn with both hands are the same, but the figure drawn with the right hand is better, then it is a C-shape;
If the left hand draws better than the right hand, it is type D.
judge:
Type A: You possess exceptional precognitive abilities; you might even be a minor prophet. You are kind and honest. With recognition and support, you have the potential to achieve great things.
Type B: Although you have precognitive abilities, you generally don't easily believe them because you are indifferent to them. So whether you can predict or not doesn't matter to you. You are a straightforward person.
Type C: You value your intuition highly, and you always make estimations before doing anything, big or small. You act with caution and prudence.
Type D: You enjoy making predictions about things. Although you lack this ability yourself, you respect people who have this kind of intuition.
Friend, how good is your intuition?
12. True feelings are revealed in silence.
A person's thoughts expressed in writing may be true or false, while their actions and demeanor can supplement the unspoken meaning of words, or even counteract insincerity and hypocrisy. For example, a girl might tell a boy who is pursuing her, with tears streaming down her face, "I don't love you!" At the same time, she might subconsciously twist two strands of her hair together. She uses a gesture of affirmation to negate her own words.
More often than not, body language is an unconscious expression of genuine feelings, and girls are especially receptive to this unconscious subconscious influence. It's often said that "women are emotional beings" and "women live by their intuition." This seems to hold some truth. Therefore, for a young man just entering the world, when interacting with a girl, if you want to accurately judge her impression of you, her attitude, and the level of her feelings, understand what kind of girl she is, and whether interacting with her is pleasant or awkward, relying solely on verbal communication is far from enough. Learning to decipher her multifaceted codes will be a huge help!
Goodwill
Girls are naturally gifted with a keen sense of vigilance. They won't actively show affection until they're certain a boy likes them. If a girl likes you, she'll often lower her arm from her chest-the most common way to disarm her. When speaking, they often show you their palms, giving a bright and cheerful impression.
When she talks to a boy she likes, her seating arrangement follows a certain pattern. Generally, the girl will sit on the boy's right, furthest away. If the conversation is reaching its climax, she might subtly move her handbag or backpack to the other side. This simple gesture is a signal of growing closer. During one-on-one conversations, she will always subtly glance at you. Psychological studies show that people spend about 60% of their time looking at the other person's face during one-on-one conversations. If she looks at the other person more than that, it means she's not interested in the content of the conversation, but rather in the person she's talking to.
Besides changes in their gaze, some girls, when they meet a boy they like, will sometimes deliberately act expressionless, walk a short distance away from him, or deliberately show closeness to other boys, etc., showing an attitude that is exactly the opposite of what they feel inside.
sense of security
Some girls seem easy to win over, but no matter what kind of advances you take, they always reject you. This shows that girls are not only sensitive to boys, but also very wary of them.
If a girl notices a boy staring at her, she will subconsciously cover her chest with her arms, check if her buttons are fastened, and habitually tighten the neckline of her clothes, because a loose or messy neckline is a symbol of sexual indiscretion. Secondly, she will be very concerned about wrinkles on her skirt, whether it is properly dressed, and whether it exposes more skin. Many girls who habitually fasten their bra buttons to their necks are maintaining a sense of insecurity in their sex life.
Clothing and Color
Young girls often have many modern clothes. Girls who like to wear warm colors like red and yellow tend to be outgoing, generous, lively, and confident, making them easy to get along with. Girls who frequently wear cool colors like blue, black, and white are often introverted and reluctant to express themselves. In terms of style, girls who like to wear tight-fitting or revealing clothing are often satisfied with their appearance and physique, or have a strong desire to express themselves (these girls often like to smear perfume on their clothes to attract boys' attention). They are confident and love to show off. Conversely, girls who like to wear baggy clothes may be constrained by their physical condition, have a conservative moral outlook, or are simply unaware of the importance of clothing. Psychologically, some may even have severe feelings of inferiority, and introversion is a characteristic of their personality.
kiss
Generally speaking, women's experience of sex is tactile; they tend to prefer prolonged physical contact rather than emphasizing sexual intercourse. Women enjoy kissing entirely due to the physiological sensation caused by the stimulation of the lip mucosa. Women typically close their eyes when kissing. This is partly due to shyness, and partly because they experience a kind of emotional immersion through tactile stimulation. Kissing with eyes open suggests a less sensitive sexual experience, often due to prior experience or a lack of genuine feeling. Therefore, a girl's first kiss or a passionate kiss is almost invariably with her eyes closed. However, this cannot be reversed; a kiss with eyes closed does not necessarily mean it's her first kiss.
Touch yourself
The most direct interpretation of touching oneself is self-love and self-comfort. Girls are often in an unstable state at this time, lacking self-confidence, and yearning for recognition of their own physical existence in order to achieve psychological stability. These girls are also relatively sensitive and fragile.
Attitude towards money
A girl's biggest expenses are clothes, jewelry, and cosmetics. If she hesitates repeatedly and walks back and forth on a shopping street when she wants to buy an ordinary piece of clothing, it clearly shows that she is careful with her money and holds onto it tightly. If she buys expensive clothes without hesitation, it undoubtedly shows that she lacks a sense of life.
A girl's body language regarding money can also reveal glimpses of her feelings through her eating habits, phone calls, and collecting dolls. Eating neatly from one side indicates a clear concept of giving and receiving. A girl who enjoys long phone calls suggests she's not frugal with money, meaning she has a loose sense of financial responsibility. A girl with a hobby like collecting dolls, like those who dislike gamblers, is good at calculating; to put it bluntly, she's a stingy miser, and somewhat immature.
Hand-holding and back-hooking
Some girls often walk side-by-side with their companions, arms around each other's shoulders. These girls tend to have close relationships with their friends and value and need friendship. At the same time, it also suggests they have a relatively low tolerance for loneliness, always wanting to escape it, and possess a strong sense of dependency. She is very likely currently single, or at least not in a committed, close relationship. Unable to obtain the romantic love she craves, she seeks fulfillment in friendship, and her companion thus becomes a substitute for her future boyfriend. This is actually a form of compensation; one day, when she has a boyfriend, she won't walk so intimately with her female companion.
Go to the dance hall
Girls who go to dance halls alone are generally quite confident, believing they can control themselves. Therefore, they are also good at observing and understanding others. Furthermore, they are likely to be less dependent and have strong personalities, which allows them to act independently. These girls are often seen as "difficult to deal with" by boys, so dating them requires courage, sincerity, and wisdom. That said, they also yearn to fulfill their own desires, but they simply have high expectations of their ideal boys.
Not following trends
Girls who disdain chasing trends are more individualistic. They possess knowledge and good cultural refinement. They are aware of their own worth compared to ordinary girls. Therefore, they have high self-esteem and are unwilling to lower their standards to be like others, easily led by the nose by fashion trends. For them, being no different from other girls is something they refuse to do. Or they firmly believe that their own taste and choices are noble, so they don't easily change them. These girls have a strong sense of self-centeredness; or they are realists who believe that chasing trends is nothing more than a waste of money.
By observing a girl's body language, one can discern her true feelings, demonstrating that a girl's psychology is far more hidden and complex than a boy's. Although these subtle psychological nuances cannot be grasped in broad strokes, studying the subtle changes in their gestures and movements should allow boys to gradually gain a deeper understanding of this.
